Why Design?
Everywhere you look in life, design points to a designer. When you see a beautifully built home, a finely tuned engine, or a piece of art that stops you in your tracks, you instinctively know someone stood behind it. It didn’t happen by accident. Thought, intention, and purpose were involved. The same is true when you step outside and really pay attention—to the symmetry of a bird’s wing, the rhythm of the tides, or the quiet precision of a sunrise over the water.
Creation speaks that same language of intention. The natural world isn’t chaotic when you slow down enough to observe it. There is order, balance, and structure woven into everything—from the spiral of a shell to the migration of birds that somehow know exactly where to go. As a Christian, I believe that this order is not random. It reflects the hand of a Creator who designs with purpose and beauty, even in the smallest details most of us rush past.
Florida by Design exists to help people see that truth more clearly. These images aren’t just meant to decorate a wall; they’re meant to slow you down. To invite you to notice what you may have overlooked. To consider that if every man-made object requires a designer, then a world this intricate, this alive, and this consistent points to something far greater than chance.
I believe God is that Designer. And when I photograph Florida’s wildlife, landscapes, and quiet moments, my hope is simple: that each image reminds you that creation is intentional, meaningful, and deeply personal. Because when you recognize the design, you begin to recognize the Designer—and that changes how you see everything else.
A sliced nautilus shell reveals an elegant spiral of repeating chambers, its precise geometry and subtle tonal gradients offering a quiet reminder that nature often follows patterns that feel intentional and mathematically ordered.
